Why DND is the culprit so often: Indian mobile carriers separate SMS into transactional (OTPs, banking) and promotional (marketing). If your number is on full-DND, BOTH categories get blocked. Most people who set DND don’t realise it kills OTPs too.
How to disable DND for transactional SMS only
- Dial 1909 from the affected number.
- Choose option for “modify DND preferences.”
- Select “Allow transactional SMS” (or equivalent in your carrier’s flow).
- Wait 24 hours for the change to propagate. (Yes, really 24h. Not instant.)
- Retry the OTP.
Things that don’t work (don’t waste time)
- Reinstalling the app — the app doesn’t generate the OTP, the server does.
- Changing browser or device — same reason.
- Trying a different name/email — the OTP is bound to the mobile number, nothing else matters.
- Calling “customer care numbers” found on Google — they’re scammers (see our customer care guide).
If support is the only option
Submit the ticket from inside the platform (Settings → Support). Subject: “OTP delivery failure”. Include:
- Your registered mobile number
- Date + time of the registration attempt
- Carrier (Jio / Airtel / Vi / BSNL)
- Whether you’ve tried 1909 DND opt-out
- Screenshot of the OTP screen with timer

How long is a Daman OTP valid?
60 seconds. After that, you need to request a fresh one. Three wrong entries trigger a 5-minute account lockout.
Can I receive Daman OTPs on WhatsApp instead of SMS?
No — Daman sends OTPs only via SMS. Anyone offering “WhatsApp OTP service” is a scammer trying to steal your account.
Why does the OTP arrive sometimes but not always?
Usually network-dependent. Indian carriers throttle SMS during high-traffic windows (evenings, weekends). If you can wait, daytime weekday retries usually succeed.
Can I change my registered number to one that does receive OTPs?
Yes — submit a support ticket with PAN + government photo ID. Manual review takes 48–72 hours. After that, future OTPs go to the new number.
Is there a way to bypass OTP entirely?
No, and you wouldn’t want one. OTP is the only barrier between a leaked password and someone draining your wallet.
