Daman KYC — 4 Causes of Rejection

WHY KYC MATTERS
You can play Daman without KYC. You cannot withdraw without KYC. Approval normally takes 24–72 hours. Rejection sends you back to square one — re-upload, re-wait. The four causes below account for ~95% of rejections.

The four causes of KYC rejection
1. Document image quality
The platform uses automated OCR (text recognition). If the photo is blurry, has glare, is rotated, or shows a partial document, the OCR fails — silently. Your status sits at “under review” for days because no human looks at it until the auto-step fails enough times.
Fix: retake in natural daylight, document flat on a dark non-reflective surface, all four corners visible, no glare from windows or overhead lights. Use the camera app, not a screenshot.
2. Name mismatch — PAN vs. bank account
The single most common rejection reason. Your bank account holder name must match your PAN name character-for-character (capitalisation aside).
Common mismatches:
- “Rajesh K Singh” (PAN) vs. “Rajesh Kumar Singh” (bank) — middle-name expansion fails
- “S Rajesh Kumar” (PAN) vs. “Rajesh S Kumar” (bank) — initial position differs
- Joint account where your name is second, not first
- Mr / Ms / Dr prefix on one but not the other
Fix: easier to update the bank account name to match the PAN than vice versa. Visit your bank branch with PAN as proof. Takes 7–10 days bank-side; expedite by also requesting a fresh passbook.
3. Document name vs. registration name mismatch
The PAN name must also match the name you entered at Daman registration. If you registered as “Rajesh” but your PAN says “Rajesh Kumar Singh,” KYC will reject. Update your Daman profile to match the PAN exactly before re-submitting.
4. Age verification (DOB)
Daman is restricted to 18+. The DOB on your PAN must show you’re 18 or older as of the registration date. There’s no workaround — underage accounts are permanently blocked. If you accidentally entered a wrong DOB at registration that conflicts with your PAN, submit a support ticket with the correct DOB and a photo of your PAN.
The KYC submission checklist (use this before submitting)
- ✅ Daman profile name = PAN name (exact spelling, including initials)
- ✅ Daman profile DOB = PAN DOB (and you’re 18+)
- ✅ PAN photo: front side only, sharp, no glare, all 4 corners visible, taken in daylight
- ✅ Bank proof: passbook front page (with name + account number + IFSC), OR canceled cheque, OR stamped UPI transaction screenshot showing the same name
- ✅ If requested: selfie holding the PAN (look at the camera, no sunglasses, document fully visible)
- ✅ Bank account holder name = PAN name = Daman profile name (all three must match)
- ✅ Bank IFSC is current and active (some old branches have been merged)
Timeline expectations
| Stage | Typical time | What’s happening |
|---|---|---|
| Document upload | Instant | Files transfer to platform server |
| Auto OCR check | 1–15 min | Text extraction + format validation |
| Manual review (if flagged) | 24–72 hr (business days) | Human verifier reviews edge cases |
| Bank verification (penny drop) | 4–24 hr | Platform sends ₹1 to your UPI to verify holder name |
| Final approval | +1 hr after all above | Account flagged “verified,” withdrawal unlocked |
If KYC is rejected: what to do

- Read the rejection reason carefully — it’s shown on the same screen.
- Address ONLY that specific reason. Don’t change other fields.
- Re-upload via Settings → KYC.
- Wait 24–48 hours before chasing — repeated re-submissions in <24 hours can flag the account for “suspicious activity” review.
- If rejected twice, submit a support ticket with subject “KYC rejected twice — manual review request” and attach all documents in the ticket.

Can I use Aadhaar instead of PAN for Daman KYC?
Aadhaar covers identity verification, but PAN is required separately because of the 30% TDS deduction under Section 194BA. The platform needs your PAN to issue Form 26AS entries. So both Aadhaar + PAN may be requested, but PAN is non-optional.
My PAN name has a typo — what do I do?
Get the typo corrected via the income tax e-filing portal first (it’s a 10-day process). Then re-submit Daman KYC with the corrected PAN. Alternatively, update your Daman profile to match the (typo’d) PAN exactly — but this means your bank account name probably won’t match either, so the typo correction is the better fix.
Why is bank verification taking so long?
Daman uses a “penny drop” — sends ₹1 to your UPI handle. Your bank then confirms the holder name. If your UPI app blocks small transfers from unknown senders (some Paytm setups do this), the penny drop fails and the verification stalls. Solution: enable “receive from unknown” in your UPI app temporarily.
Can I do KYC before depositing any money?
Yes — and we recommend it. KYC has no deposit prerequisite. Doing it first means your first withdrawal won’t be delayed by the KYC review.
What happens if I never complete KYC?
You can keep playing forever, but your money is trapped — no withdrawals possible. The wallet balance just sits there. After 365+ days of inactivity, some platforms forfeit unwithdrawn balances per their terms.
