Standard reset (you have your old number)

- Open the Daman login screen in your browser or app.
- Tap “Forgot password?” below the password field.
- Enter your registered mobile number. The platform sends an OTP via SMS.
- Enter the OTP, set a new password (8+ characters, mix of letters and numbers).
- Confirm. You can log in immediately with the new password.
Pro tip: After resetting, log out from all other devices via Settings → Security. If anyone unauthorised had access to your old password, this kicks them off.
If the OTP doesn’t arrive
This is the more common failure mode. Most “I can’t reset my password” complaints are actually OTP delivery failures.
- Wait 60 seconds, then “Resend OTP” — most carriers rate-limit the first send.
- Check SMS Spam / Promotions folder.
- Disable DND for transactional SMS: dial 1909 from your number, opt out of DND for transactional category. Wait 24 hours, retry.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data briefly.

If you no longer have your old number
Harder case. The platform binds your account to the registration number. Recovery requires KYC re-verification.
- Submit a support ticket via the Daman website (you can use any browser without logging in — look for the “Help” or “Contact” link). Subject: “Number change — lost SIM”.
- Attach a clear photo of your PAN card and one government photo ID (Aadhaar / driving licence / passport).
- Include: registered name, approximate registration date, last 3 transactions you can remember, your new mobile number.
- Wait 48–72 hours. Support sends a verification SMS to your new number once they manually authorise the change.
- Once authorised, use the standard password reset flow with your new number.
Password security — what actually matters
- Unique password for Daman. Don’t reuse a password from another site. If a breached site leaks your password and you reused it on Daman, your wallet is at risk.
- Enable 2FA in Settings → Security if your account type supports it.
- Long password > complex password. A 16-character phrase is harder to crack than an 8-character symbol-soup.
- Never enter your Daman password on a site you reached via a forwarded WhatsApp link. Type the URL or use a bookmark.
- Check at haveibeenpwned.com if your password has been in a breach. If yes, change it on Daman immediately.
If your account has been compromised
Signs your account has been accessed:
- Withdrawals you didn’t request
- Login notifications from unknown locations
- Wallet balance dropped without your activity
What to do immediately:
- Reset your password right now.
- Log out all other sessions (Settings → Security → “Log out everywhere”).
- Submit a support ticket with subject “Account compromised — urgent” and a list of unauthorised transactions.
- Contact your bank to report any unauthorised UPI transactions within 24 hours — banks have a window to reverse fraud.
- File a cybercrime complaint at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
Don’t pay anyone who contacts you offering to “recover” your hacked account. That’s the second wave of the scam.

Can I reset my Daman password without OTP?
No. The OTP is the only verification. If your registered number isn’t reachable, you must go through the KYC re-verification process for a number change (48–72 hour manual review).
How long does the password reset OTP last?
60 seconds. If you don’t enter it in time, request a new one. Three wrong entries trigger a 5-minute account lockout.
Is there a security questions / backup email recovery option?
No — Daman uses mobile + OTP only. There’s no security questions, no backup email, no recovery codes. The mobile number is the single recovery vector.
What if my SIM is blocked but I still have the same number?
Get the SIM unblocked or replaced (your mobile carrier can issue a same-number replacement). The Daman side doesn’t change. Once SMS works again, the OTP flow works.
Can I change my registered email instead of my number?
Daman doesn’t use email as a primary identifier — only the mobile number. Email may be optional in profile settings but isn’t part of authentication.
